Apple, Amazon and Microsoft hold the top spots in the Fortune List of the World’s most admired companies in 2021 – specially fitting in a year in which we all leaned most heavily on tech giants - to connect, entertain, and even feed us in a time of isolation. These were arrived at based on a poll of some 3,800 corporate executives, directors, and analysts.

At CW, we set about and created a robust process ourselves, that polled 1600 senior and middle management executives from within this industry, to get to our own heroes – the Most Admired Construction Brands! They were asked to vote from 130 Construction Brands (which contribute a turnover of Rs 8 trillion per annum) across multiple categories like Contracting, Realty, Cement, Steel, Construction Equipment, Construction Chemicals Paints, Tiles and Sanitaryware, and Glass sectors. They were to take into account parameters like: financial performance, scale and speed of execution of projects, commitment to customers, corporate governance, ethics, best business practices, social responsibility, adaptability, eco-friendly and customer-friendly policies and transparency, amongst others, as they perceived them.

The respondents – belonging to and working with these industries - were asked to Vote for 10 Companies, with a provision to add a name if they felt it was missing from the list.

The Top 20 Brands were put to a Jury on 18th March. This Jury comprised of:

On the recommendation of the jury the following was decided:

Instead of trust – which is what we started out with - the Jury recommended we call them the industry’s Most Admired Brands, and recommended that we intensify the process henceforth to qualify for a Trust vote;

10 Top Brands were selected by each individual jury member, which comprised the total jury vote;

To arrive at the final vote, they suggested we give weightage to the votes we had received from Senior Management in the survey. So, a weighted average of the Jury’s vote and Senior Management votes was done to arrive at this list, of the 10 Most Admired Construction Brands, presented in ranking order.

Some ranks are a tie with 2 brands. (See Box). All these have been featured here and they share their views on what they think got them on this list.
